Each student in grades 8-12 took a field trip to our school library, where they learned about how libraries are organized. Your Coyle Bluejacket checked out a fiction book from the Coyle Public School library to read for the Book Buyer/Book Seller project.
After reading the book for two weeks, students were tasked with multiple assignments over their book. First, they did a Google Form Book Report on the book they chose to read. Students had to create a Giant "Locker-Sized" bookmark advertising their book. The gargantuan bookmark had to refresh the book's cover and credit the author who created it. These were taped up on each student’s locker. After completing this assignment, they made a slide show to tell the story of their books. Next, your student, the bookseller, developed a set of 8 Google slides to pitch their novel to their peers posing as book buyers. Once, a bookseller had the book buyer at their station, and they presented their slides and television commercials. The slide show also had to have a short commercial where the student tried to sell his/her book to their peers. The book buyer was presented with a trade item to keep at the end of the presentation. Before the book buyer rotated to the next station, the seller explained the symbolism of their expertly prepared token taker box.
After completing all the presentations, the bookseller (your student) left the room. All book buyers deposited their tokens inside the book seller's token box as a sign that they would have purchased their book.
Our students did a fantastic job. We hope you enjoy seeing their hard work come to fruition as much as we did!
